    Moving Tips

Though it's a good idea to start planning your move at least 4 weeks in advance, sometimes that's not possible.

If you have a short-notice move, speak with one of our moving specialist.

When choosing a moving service
make a note of your registration/tracking number and keep it with you in case you need to call
with any questions about your service.

Since moving can be stressful, confusing, and annoying, it is always best to create a method to organize the boxes,
such as the "Color Coordination Method"

Color Coordination

This is one of the easiest ways to make unpacking less daunting.
Create a color scheme for each room.

For example, Yellow is for the living room, blue is for the master bedroom, orange is for the dining room, and so forth.
Then begin labling the boxes with the markers accordingly

Choosing a different color marker for each room can help to undo the confusion when attempting to find an object that     belongs in the bathroom or kitchen.

Make a "Special Box" of important items such as medicines or things you will need access to right away
after you have moved to your new location.

The red marker should be used on boxes that contain important items or need to be opened first

Avoid using colored labels since they are often prone to detach during the transition.

Moving Kit

Make a list of all the moving supplies you need.
Stock up, because you'll need plenty of heavy-duty tape, markers, paper wrap, bubble wrap
for packing boxes, picture & mirror cartons, furniture pads, and mattress bags also for general household use.

Do not over-pack boxes.
Heavier items should be placed in smaller boxes and lighter items in larger boxes.

If you decide to do the packing yourself, label all of the moving boxes as you pack.

Write the destination room on the top and sides of each moving box
to ensure it gets to the right place in your new location.

Set the day after the move as a clean-up/final walk-through day.

Schedule disconnects for gas, electric, water and
the telephone.

Don't disconnect the phone until after your move.

Arrange for refunds that are due, and schedule connections for your new home.

Cancel newspapers, cable TV, security, pest control, cleaning help
lawn maintenance, and any other services you receive.
